After completing his studies in art and literature, Dale Carter traveled to the South Pacific, Indonesia, and India, taking photographs and writing articles along the way. Ultimately, he made his way to Costa Rica where he witnessed the beauty, and destruction, of the rain forests. In response, he wrote The Subtle Mysteries of Place, his first novel. His writing and photography have appeared in Earth Island Journal, Bali Now Magazine, Saddleback Magazine, Water Magazine, Star News, and Lumina News. Dale lives in Encinitas, California.
